Community College Instructors Bring Astronomy Textbook Into 21st Century

This update provides community college students with modern, interactive learning tools that can improve their understanding of astronomy compared to traditional textbooks.

• Brought together project teams from NCCN, Infiniscope, and NASA Treks along with five community college instructors.
• Enhanced the opening five chapters of OpenStax Astronomy 101 with active learning modules and NASA visualization resources.
• Results were presented in July 2026 and scheduled for Fall 2026 classroom field-testing.

Oklahoma scientists led a design workshop on operationalizing a tool that uses satellite data to forecast infectious diseases.
