Artemis III Orion Crew and Service Models Joined

Successfully joining these modules enables astronauts to travel to space to test commercial landing systems from SpaceX and Blue Origin, which are essential for future human moon missions.

The crew and service modules were joined on July 30, 2026.
The crew module will carry NASA astronauts Randy Bresnik, Andre Douglas, and Frank Rubio, and ESA astronaut Luca Parmitano.
The service module will power and propel Orion to test rendezvous and docking capabilities with commercial human landing systems from Blue Origin and SpaceX.
