This initiative encourages public engagement with satellite imagery and provides an opportunity for users to be recognized by NASA.

NASA Earth Observatory published the August 2026 satellite image puzzler challenge on August 4, 2026.
Readers are challenged to identify the location, satellite instrument, spectral bands, and geological features in the image.
Responses are submitted via the Earth Observatory contact form under the topic Puzzler Answer.
The correct location and explanatory Image of the Day story will be published about a week after the challenge announcement.
