NASA’s SkyFall Helicopters at Work (Artist’s Concept)
NASA is developing the SkyFall project to send three helicopters to Mars to gather scientific data. The mission builds on flight capabilities demonstrated by the Ingenuity helicopter.
Why it matters
These aircraft will provide aerial radar and imagery of surface rocks and dust, enhancing our understanding of Martian geology from above.
The details
- SkyFall is expected to launch in December 2028.
- Each of the three helicopters carries four instruments.
