AWS IAM identity federation to external services is now available in AWS European Sovereign Cloud Region
AWS has enabled IAM identity federation for workloads in the AWS European Sovereign Cloud Region. This allows these workloads to authenticate with external services using short-lived JSON Web Tokens (JWTs).
Why it matters
Organizations using this EU-based cloud can now securely connect to third-party SaaS and cloud providers without relying on risky long-term credentials.
The details
- Workloads exchange IAM credentials for short-lived JWTs to access external services.
- Administrators use IAM policies to control token properties and CloudTrail logs for auditing.
- The AWS European Sovereign Cloud is located entirely within the European Union.
