Amazon EC2 now supports creating Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) with local snapshots from instances running on AWS Outposts to meet data residency requirements.

• Customers can create AMIs with snapshots stored directly on AWS Outposts or in the parent AWS Region.
• Amazon EC2 automatically determines the target Outpost from instance location without requiring an Outpost ARN.
